I decided to walk back home today from my friend's house since I was going to be late for my evening exercise. I borrowed a pair of bathroom slippers, pulled my wedding rings. (Yes wedding rings, cos I received both on my wedding day. Hubby is not romantic like that.lol) I set out on this 5km journey. While I walked, I made some observations, first, our government needs to provide walk ways for pedestrians and people like me who are pretending to be exercise addicts, (yimu), it's quite risky walking on the roads with those crazy bus drivers, little wonder, lekki(ites) and Ikoyi(ians) immediately keyed into the new lekki bridge for their workouts as soon as the bridge was ready.
I kept looking around to be sure no vehicle on the wrong side of the road hit me. Secondly, there's no protection against hoodlums and mentally unstable people. I gave my best smiles to the rough looking guys just to show them solidarity, "I'm on your side bros" And please, isn't the use of indian hemp (aka igbo, ganja etc) illegal? (I'm sure some are already wondering which bush she lives in. Lol) I live in my neighborhood, dazzol.
The view from the pedestrian's bridge was absolutely beautiful. I nearly pulled one woman by the ear when she attempted to cross the road though she was right under the bridge, but then I imagined the newspaper caption, "a lady badly beats up another lady for pulling her ear" and I just respected my new age. Human beings are just impossible. Taking unnecessary risks. Mscheew.
The most interesting part was when a really nice vehicle pulled up and the occupant said something as I passed by. Initially I thought he was lost and looking for directions. But then, he said he had seen me and pulled over to wait for me. He offered me a ride, of course I turned down the offer and politely told him I was just working out. The look on his cute face told me that he didn't believe me. I'm sure he thought I was a young girl playing hard to get, but I believe in my grey hairs.
The very descent guy said, "I'm Steve" and I introduced myself as well. :Nice meeting you", "my pleasure"
I continued walking oh. I must confess that it felt good. Most women pretend that they don't enjoy the attention once in a while . Asi! ironi! lielie.(how do the Hausas even say it? Baabu!) We all enjoy it and even being chased sometimes. My advice is, enjoy the attention that second and flee! but if you are a real radical for Jesus, you may evangelise. If you do not take off as and when due, you may go down a lane you'll always regret. Don't ask me how I know! Hian!
I got back home, hubby and I started gisting like we normally do after a hard day's job. (It's our planning and gossip time.hehe) I told him about the very young guy who offered me a ride and how decent of him to want to help a lady. I also told him of the hoodlums, the walkways and the pedestrian bridge.
After everything I said to him, the only thing he picked was that I must have spent up to three minutes responding to the young chap. Na waoh! I'm giving you an innocent gist and you are there calculating time for me. Where you there? lol I don't get it. If I had not managed it well, quarrel for don start.hahahaha. Men sef! *SMH* He didn't think of the beautiful view or even express worry over my safety and warn me not to go that route again. No, all he thought of was the guy talking to his wifey. Hubby is possessing his possession. Next time I'll just hang a notice on my front and at my back. "Someone's property, please approach with caution" hoihoihoihoi, I laugh in Onitsha dialect
Hahahaha

ReplyDeleteInteresting! This guy, what car was he driving? I'm trying to determine how hard it was for you to resist. Well done!
ReplyDeleteYou and men sef..
ReplyDeletePlease don't blame him ojare.
ReplyDeleteFor him, the summary of the story is that some guy tried to "chase" his wife. And since he can'take reach the guy to show his disapproval (I wonder if that's necessary), he chose the nearest person to the gist.
Talking of sometimes "liking the attention" from other men, can one discuss that with hubby?
If NO,should one feel guilty about it?
Loving all your post, please keep them coming.

ReplyDeletebefore nko ......I no blame the man jare protecting his hard earned asset.
ReplyDeleteI'm with hubby on this one 100%...When we raise such issues and you ladies think he's possessive bc he's insecure or because he doesn't trust or whatever, you get it all wrong.. We trust you so that doesn't make us insecure.. It's the guys we don't trust.. Guys can be up to no good and do anything to get something that belongs to another sober see red flags everywhere...
ReplyDeleteYou may ask, what can a small 3 minute chit chat do? Oh well, ask people who have been duped by 419ers they met on the road or by chance.. Hypnotism, touch and follow, deception, lacing of drinks, etc all dey game and we know because emmm, forget it... Bottom line, next time don't even bother to answer the Randy motorists.. We trust you, it's them buggers we don't trust. Shalom
Nah wah!! Flashback 18 and twenties I would never respond to strangers on the road ....never know what anyone was up to...... didn't want to find out.....spent most of my adult life in that "shelter" ......how wrong .....approach should be "be cautious".....beauty would always be admired ......work...church...market ...on the road...school....anywhere.....tbh.....not digging the man being jealous or protective call it whatever you like ....not much for that level of "I care for you" blah blah blah....yaaaaawwwwwwwnnnnnn.......
ReplyDeleteHian! As in?.... don't mind him o jare! It's his way of showing he cares.
