The story I will post in parts in the next two days is quite heart wrenching, it is an extreme case of domestic violence and not for the faint hearted. I reached out to this lady that I met in a group; she told me her story and also permitted me to share. I will be posting the story not only to let people know that domestic violence still exists despite all the awareness but also to solicit help for this lady. A lot of women are still trapped in abusive relationships and can't leave for a reason that I am yet to discover.
The lady in this story found the strength to leave finally, but needs assistance ASAP! I am reaching out to my readers and friends to help. I can’t do it all by myself. It is a very long post, I will summarise for now, but the full story like I mentioned earlier, will be posted in parts from the early hours of tomorrow. I will use fictional names for the sake of privacy.
Sherry met Upjohn when she was only eighteen years old, he was a much older guy but he swept her off her feet and she gave in to him on their first date. Shortly after, she realised that she had fallen pregnant. She led her mother to the house of the man who was responsible for her pregnancy; her mother insisted that he must marry her. Upjohn owned up to it. He said that he wasn't prepared to marry just yet but would take care of Sherry throughout the pregnancy and his baby thereafter. Sherry's mother left her with Upjohn and that was how they started to live together under one roof.
The abuse started almost immediately, he beat her up for the slightest reason even while she was pregnant which resulted in her giving birth to still birth twins. She had two other miscarriages from the same abuse. Sherry eventually had a healthy baby girl, followed shortly by a baby boy. (Are you thinking what I’m thinking now?) Upjohn grew worse with each passing day. He did every bad thing to Sherry. He prevented her from communicating with her family, stopped her from completing her education, abused her verbally in front of the children and even raped her while their young son watched. (This is the height). It was after this experience that Sherry took off. The devil was not done with her. She lost her son a few months after she ran away because she could not afford medical treatment. Now Sherry’s only surviving child needs urgent medical attention. Sherry does not have a job and can hardly take care of herself let alone her baby. Do watch out for the full story in subsequent posts.
Now, here is my request, please set your judgment aside and help save Sherry’s baby’s life. I’m certain, that like me, you are asking some questions, why did her mother even leave her with Upjohn and why she did she stay with him for as long as she did? I’ve come to realise that anything can happen to anyone, what happens to us are purely accidents of birth like a senior colleague of mine would say.
In addition to the money she needs to pay her daughter’s medical bills, Sherry also needs a job/business so that she can fend for herself. She finds it difficult to feed daily. Whatever you are moved to do for her, please contact me, you can also get to meet her if you wish to.
