The MVPs

As we come to the end of this year’s International Women's week, I celebrate this special category of women, the MVPs!
Here's to my friend who was widowed 14 years ago at the age of twenty six, doing excellently well including raising a princess who is battling sickle cell. She looks extremely good and nothing like what she's been through. To the mature single lady, who still lives her life to the fullest regardless of the nasty attitude meted out to unmarried ladies by the society.  To the wife who walked out of an abusive (both domestic and emotional) marriage and still keeps it together. To my friend who remains celibate years after a divorce.
To the mothers to be who have gone through series of procedures trying to conceive and have their own babies. To the female undergraduate who has chosen the straight and narrow path despite tempting offers from "aristos". To the wife who is keeping the family together with her positive attitude to life. To the wife who pays all the bills and smiles through it all. To the nagging wife as well who still supports her husband the best she can. To the jack of all trades mother who labours day and night just to put food on the table for her family. To the wife nursing her sick husband and the mother with a special needs child.
To women who have helped other women succeed. To women who have been humiliated, insulted and slandered. To every woman who has been called a prostitute at some point. To those who had the courage to attempt marriage a second or even a third time. To the woman looking after her aged parents; and to those in the military. To the woman who managed to pick the pieces of her life and said good bye to her past. To the women who have had their hearts broken but still believe in love.
To the women powering in male dominated industries and those excelling in their chosen fields. To the woman battling an illness and the one who is fighting her personal demons.  To the woman who is not operating at the level she wants to yet, but still holding on. To the wife who still spreads out at night even though she doesn’t feel like doing it. To every woman who enjoys being a woman, I celebrate you! We are women and we are awesome!
