You keep blessing me Lord!

Sheila just had a third baby for her husband Adam, (real names withheld) she is so overwhelmed by God’s goodness in her life. She sent in her story as a step towards finding a much desired remedy. She has been so emotional since the birth of her baby six weeks ago and she cries at the slightest greeting of congratulations; it is not her first child and so people around her cannot understand her strange behaviour.

Sheila was born into a good Christian home and she had all the good trainings there were to give. Her parents were very strict disciplinarians and never spared the rod on any of their children. Sheila attended Sunday school with all her siblings and so from an early age could tell good from evil.

Her mother taught her and her other siblings sex education and they knew well to stay away from the opposite sexes, to keep their bodies holy and maintain high moral standards.

Sheila was fourteen years old when she realised that she had a problem, and the problem had to do with her sexuality. She always felt something in her body whenever a male was anywhere near her and she knew from all that she was taught by her mother that the feeling was wrong. She was fifteen years old when her Agriculture teacher fingered her behind the school water tank after night prep; she eventually went the whole nine yards with the same teacher in the school farm where the teacher told her to meet him after night prep. She thought she would feel guilty afterwards, but that wasn’t the case, Sheila wanted more and more of what she experienced with the teacher. Her next experience was with a construction worker, the young man was part of the casual workers who worked on the new hostel site in Sheila’s school. By the end of that term, she had let five different men have carnal knowledge of her and she wanted even more.

During the holidays, Sheila wanted to talk to her mother about her problem but she was sure that such information would send the poor woman to an early grave and so she kept all to herself. While at home, she was all the more convinced that she was the abnormal one because all her siblings acted differently from her.

Unfortunately, by the end of the holiday, Sheila took ill and it was discovered in the hospital that she was expecting a baby. To say that her parents were devastated is an understatement, Sheila’s father had a major breakdown and according to Sheila it took a lot of prayers and medication to bring him back to normal.

To add fuel to the fire, Sheila could not tell who was responsible for her baby, her mother narrowly survived the disgrace Sheila had brought upon the family; she was diagnosed with high blood pressure as the story spread like wild fire that Sheila was pregnant with a bastard child.

She was eventually delivered of a baby boy who lives with her parents till date.  Sheila’s sexcapades did not end with the birth of her baby at the age of sixteen. She had lost a year of school and when she was ready to return to her studies, she was transferred to a brand new school, but a day student this time for obvious reasons.

To cut the long story short, Sheila had two more babies at home and it was only her for her last baby that she could tell who exactly was responsible. By the time Sheila got to the University, she could take better care of herself, she no longer took in, she discovered contraceptives and when they failed she went for a quick Dilation and Curettage (D&C) procedure. Her parents had resigned to only praying that what they had termed a spiritual problem would somehow leave their daughter.

Sheila had also given up on herself, she knew that her behaviour was not normal but she couldn’t help herself, she researched the word “Nymphomaniac” after her then boyfriend called her one and came to the conclusion that she was one.

Just as Sheila had resigned to living her life the way it came to her, (after all she already had three children), she met Adam. Adam had been away from the country for quite a while and had returned that Christmas period to find a wife to settle down with in Nigeria (of course he was product of a failed marriage to a foreigner). All the warnings from people that he was getting married to a Nymphomaniac did not deter him, and to the chagrin of all who knew Sheila, Adam married her and made her his wife.

Now, Sheila lives with her husband in a terrace house, her marriage has been very successful and her husband though not perfect, gives his best to his family. On her part, Sheila tries her best to suppress the demon in her but recently let her guard down with her next door neighbour’s older brother. Her neighbour’s good for nothing but good looking older brother recently paid attention to her while she was six months gone in her pregnancy and she couldn’t resist him; they got down to it.

Sheila has six children altogether, her parents live with her first and her husband adopted the other two as his own ( only returnees can do this) and Sheila is overwhelmed that God still blesses her regardless of her many atrocities. She has friends, who have lived very decent lives yet are finding it very difficult to conceive, when she delivered this last child, all she could say was “You keep blessing me Lord!”

She is determined to fight the demon in her and is asking for prayers.
