I am a Christian but sometimes I wonder if this statement is really true. What makes me a Christian? How do people know that I am a Christian? Is it just by saying it? Does my life reflect it? Am I even proud or bold to be one? And if there is a gun to my head to deny my faith, will I still say that I am a Christian? Will I be willing to die for my faith?
Again, how many people do I tell about Christ? Do I live the sort of life God wants me to live? Am I conformed to the things of the world or to the things of the kingdom? Do I strive to please God or men? Is my life an open bible for people to read?
I love to live life to the fullest, I love to laugh and dance, I love good food and I drink. Do these make me less a Christian? I do not think so. Sometimes I write about sex and some people cringe, some say I am not a Christian and I do not have the spirit of God, why? Just because of the sex topic? There is nothing wrong with sex within the confines of a marriage and if we pretend all we can that some of our teenage sons and daughters are not having sex then we lie to ourselves. I’d rather discuss sex with my children myself than let them learn from outsiders especially the corrupt minds. I prefer to educate them myself on all that they need to know at different stages of their lives. I will focus on the evils of illegal sex and I will never stop praying for them not to fall into sexual immorality.
My focus today though is on Christianity, if I dye my hair red or blue or leave it long or short, it doesn’t stop me from being a Christian. If I wear skinny jeans and short dresses, God still loves me, and if I know all the latest dance moves, does it mean that I am no longer God’s child? Some have even said that locked hair is not Christ-like, oh well; thank God that God is not man!
You may wear a long gown or tie a wrapper every day, you may also cover your hair the reverend sisters’ way, but if your mind is filled with so much hatred and bitterness, you are even worse than your cleavage showing counterpart.
Christianity is not all about what you wear or how much you pretend to be what you are not; it is about what you have in you. Like Christ taught us in the bible, “It is not what you eat that makes you unclean but what comes out of you”. So next time you see that lady step out of her car in her short skirt, before you judge her, please re-evaluate your own life, judging is absolutely not an ingredient of Christianity.
You call yourself a Christian yet you hate your neighbour because she does not cover her hair when she goes to church. You also hate your colleague because he is a womaniser. Have you taken the time to tell them about God’s love? Now that is the crux of Christianity. When last did you preach to people or even one person about Christ? Are you bold enough to preach in a public place? God keeps doing for us but what have we done for Him?
Lord, give me, give me, give me! How about Lord, take, take, take all of me.
I wouldn’t be doing myself any good if I do not talk about Christ on my blog sometimes, I am a Christian and unashamedly so. I am not perfect and I do not claim to be but please do not judge me. Do not judge me because of my hair style or my dress or its neckline. By all means, do not judge my looks. Just look at my soul and see this lady searching for the truth, loving God more and striving to be in a better place after life here on earth.
If you choose to, judge me all you can, but I am still a Christian and God loves me deeply. He sees in me what nobody else can see!
Happy Sunday Good people and please go to church!

You Nailed it!
ReplyDeleteI feel you lady.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday to all.
Dear Amaka,
ReplyDeleteI really take to heart your line that judging others is not Christian.
Who are we to judge others, when we are capable of committing worse sins.
We should rather correct the bad actions of others fraternally while praying for them.
But then, we should resist the false human respect of not calling a sin by its name; even if we are guilty, let us condemn sin without condemning the sinner.
Thanks
No one can see ur soul to know if you are a christian or not. Only God can see our soul and intention to judge. Humans see only ur actions and reactions. A christian shld be like Christ. Always ask" would Christ do this? " before any action. Would Christ dye his hair red , wear earring or lock his hair ( I don't think so ) it doesn't mean it is a sin to do so but it's not Christlike.lets leave that to God to judge our intentions for doing that. Pple must see Christ in us if we say we are Christians.
ReplyDeleteGood talk, Amaka. But know one thing, that we are not to judge but people look at Christian as a mirror they look up to and if you act as Christians people will see it in you and Bible said we should judge not. Thank you for today's topic. All the Good fathers in the house 🏡 Happy fathers day. 👍
ReplyDeleteApt!!!! No be my covering hair with a dirty attitude... thank God that men can never be God! Let's strive to get better working out our salvation on daily basis with fear and trembling. No man is good says the Bible but we can attain being good by constantly renewing our minds not thinking that we are better than the next man... The day of the lord would be like once chance... Even prostitutes will make heaven and the judges may be found wanting.. lord teach me to number my days and not to judge... Give me boldness to declare the great commission.Amen
ReplyDeleteNice one! God loves you indeed
