Rose and Lara (not real names) are sisters in their middle twenties. Rose is the older of the two sisters and there is just one year between her and her younger sister Lara. They are both graduates of the same University and are currently planning to start their masters programme in the same school.
Rose and Lara are presently working on their relationship which had been somewhat strained from childhood. Lara is the more lively one, outgoing and loudly smart, she is an extrovert and more easily noticed while Rose always maintained a low profile and often felt over shadowed by her younger sister Lara.
This was what made their mother to wade in thereby causing a bit of tension between the two sisters. Their mother did not like the fact that Lara still acted like she was older than Rose; right from when they were kids, Lara acted older and bolder, and she fought for her older sister and also took decisions for her.
It was funny when they were kids but as adults it started to affect Rose, it was like she didn’t know what she was doing and had to keep working on her self confidence. It was too late for Lara to change; she was already used to doing things her own way and she still took decisions for Rose without her consent. She always took it for granted that Rose could have her preferences.
Now Lara feels that their mother is partial towards Rose, before they were both admitted to the same University for their Masters programme, Lara had approached her parents to sponsor her post graduate studies in a foreign University but they claimed that they were in no position to do so.
Just very recently, Rose announced to Lara that she had been admitted into a University in the UK for further studies. Lara feels cheated and victimised by her own family; Rose never showed any interest in studying abroad, so why is she the one who gets to be sponsored? Lara is sure that it was their mother who convinced Rose to study abroad just to spite her.
Lara stopped speaking to any member of her family from the day Rose broke the news about her further education to her and it lasted for over one month. Rose just told her parents that she would rather not study abroad than lose her only sister and so she forfeited her admission. She admits that she was wrong to have schemed with their mother to do everything about the school without her sister’s knowledge. It was her mother’s advice anyway; she never cared much about furthering her education abroad or even anywhere. She had hoped to be married once she was done with her first degree, but that ishould yet to happen.
She has reconciled with her sister and they have talked through their differences but Lara has vowed never to forgive her parents especially her mother.
Well the mother asked for it!

Lara should realize that without her forgiving her mother she too cannot be forgiven by God. If her sister forfeited her studies in uk just to make peace is That not enough sacrifice already to remind her of the need to let go? Why carry another baggage in her heart? Forgive!
