I had a conversation with someone
recently and she mentioned that I discuss relationships very frequently, she
also mentioned that it appears I love relationships. No doubt, I am a hopeless
romantic and my favourite moment is lying on my bed, watching a really romantic
movie and staying glued to the TV so I don’t miss the part when the couple kiss
after fighting their feelings for a long time. Lol. Sometimes I cry and laugh
at myself for crying over a fictional movie. hehehe!
So I was minding my business when
someone called to share her story with us, Lilea’s blog and her readers. In her
words, she likes the honest comments by the readers and believes she will get
good advice.
Chio is thirty seven years old
though she doesn’t look anything her age, in addition to having a really small
stature, Chio has a baby face and like every other Mature Single Woman (MSW)
marriage is top on her mind.
It was her cousin’s introduction,
Solu was Chio’s favourite cousin, it never mattered that Chio was seven years
older than her; they got on really well and confided in each other on almost
everything.
Chio knew about Gani, her
cousin’s fiancé but had never seen him until the day of the introduction, he
lived and worked somewhere in East Africa. Solu couldn’t wait to hear what Chio
would say of her husband to be, her opinion mattered a lot.
Chio approved of Gani, he looked
quite nice in his native attire and they got on quite well after the whole
ceremony. Solu’s uncles gave Gani’s family a date to come for the bride price
after which the traditional wedding would follow immediately.
It was a beautiful day and the
family house was alive with activities as they awaited the arrival of their in
laws. Gani's and his family arrived quite alright but with a whole new agenda; they wanted
Chio’s hand in marriage instead, Gani told his family that it was Chio he wanted and
didn’t want to live in regret the rest of his life besides, he had just been
friends with Solu for only six months, they met through a mutual friend on
social media and it wasn’t like he had known her for a long time and wasted her
time.
This was a big shock to both families
only that Gani’s family got theirs earlier. To fulfil all righteousness, Chio
was called into the meeting and she dazed everyone present with her response,
she said “Yes” to Gani’s proposal. This was a bigger shock for her family. She
was reminded that she was older than both Gani and Solu. Gani had fallen in
love and wouldn’t listen even if Chio was old abd grey.
Right now, Chio’s immediate and
extended family have threatened to disown her but she has stood her ground and
will go on with the marriage. She claims that she fell in love with him on that
first day and she believed then that she had found the one.
Chio believes that God has
answered her prayers ad will never understand why everyone seems distraught by her
decision. Solu has not said a word to her ever since and it has been over
seven months .
My take; I do not blame Solu,
you betrayed her and Gani isn’t worth the stress, dump him fast!
I am really glad to be back, had phone issues. by the way, hope you all like the new look of Lilea's blog?

Why do junior sisters always want their senior sisters man!... I think it's "Inferiority Complex" that makes them do that!... MAYBE IT MAKES THEM FEEL GROUND UP OR SOMETHING!... I don't know! Also why do Ladies tend to set-up their Man/Hubbie by bringing their prittiest younger sisters around.... MAYBE THEY WANT TO BRAND THEMSELVES AS COMING FROM A FAMILY OF BEAUTY (INSECURITY COMPLEX)
ReplyDeleteDON'T BLAME ANYONE WHEN YOU MESS UP YOUR RELATIONSHIP!!!
Things truly happens!!!
ReplyDeleteWill I call this one prayer answered??? I don't know. Had a case similar to this one in the family years back, An elder sister brought home her fiancee to the family and the youngest sister took interest in the man so also the guy and they both started dating with the support of their mum, the older sister didn't find this funny, uncles and aunties mediated on the case but the two love birds didn't listen, the older sister at the end of the day left the guy to go ahead and marry the younger sister.
Sincerely I don't like such scenario because it tears the family apart. As much as God does/works in mysterious ways but this kind of mystery?? It's hard to unravel.
My question is
1.did they both(Chio and Gani) fell in love the same day at the same time?
2. Why didn't Chio said this to the family, why wait for Gani's family to come on the said date?
3. Biko men don finish??
Let Solu take heart, a betrayal from a friend can be understandable, but from a sister? It's killing and disheartening. Gani is not worth the cry and stress. Am sure she will find love again but sincerely this isn't a good one if you ask me.
Amaka I like the new look, kudos to you and may God continue to strengthen you. Well done Dear
ReplyDeleteHmmmm chio blood is thicker than infatuation pls look for another man ooo

ReplyDeleteFrom my read, Chio is older than Gani and her cousin, yeah? So its not a case of younger sister gbabing older sister's man. If a man jumps from one sister to another on the account of physical or/and intellectual qualities, then he would still jump from her to many others when the opportunity presents itself, simple!
ReplyDeleteThere's such a thing as love at first sight for both parties, so nothing new under the sun and surprisingly such relationships end up working in the long haul, either to prove a point or it just did...whatever that means, Lol!
Queen Elizabeth would never have ascended the throne if her uncle had not married the American divorcee, point is... Things happen
On a side note...they say being good doesn't always pay...but I say, it does pay alot, you just might not like the currency of payment.
They love each other(according to her), ain't nothing anybody can do about it!
I can only say, life happens....and then you die!
Chio has committed a grievous crime against her own sister. This is betrayal of the highest order. How on earth she accepted Gani's proposal at first sight, its more spiritual than physical. Solu pls don't let it bother you, their relationship isn't going anywhere. It's a by-product of desperation.
ReplyDeleteChio and the guy may pretentiously appear happy in the long run. However, the truth is that bitterness will be their lot. You do not bleed a person's heart and still enjoy the best life offers. Really impossible!

ReplyDeleteAmaka, I believe there was a story you wrote about a lady who slept with 3 friends same night and ended up marrying one. And according to the guy, they are happy, even thou, sometimes eyebrows are occasionally raised.
ReplyDeleteSome comments here were shocked at their Union or the way they met, even thou both scenarios are not the same, its still strange nonetheless.
We'v all done terribly wrong things at different times, against our blood relatives and friends. But if Solu decides to forgive and move on, bitterness and resentment will be a thing of the past and everybody is happy. If God forgives the two people, who are we to judge Biko?. It might appear terrible to any hearer but the way we meet our significant other might not go according to how we imagined, if it was to be how we imagined, Bollywood and Hollywood...maybe Nollywood would have nothing on us.
If it's meant to be, they wd be happy, whether people like it or not, they are the ones, not Chio and Gani, the two would beg for forgiveness and if they are refused of it, the begrudged will meet God in heaven!
I don't support Chio but I wdnt carry bitterness if i were Solu, to the grave, she would meet her own(if she believes) because bitterness is a terribly heavy load to carry and it might affect my health...
This kind of stuff happens all the time due to societal pressures for a woman to be married, people do whatever it takes to achieve it and in this case betrayal. Very Sad !!! Amaka your new look is Bam !!!
ReplyDeleteThere are many fishes in the sea. This to me is betrayal and certain boundaries should not be crossed. This is one of them.
