The Day Break

The Balcony - a platform that projects from the wall of a building and is enclosed by a parapet or railing;credit online dictionary.

After all the grammar, a balcony means different things to a lot of people.

My very good friend turned her balcony into a prayer room and tagged it her War Room after the movie War Room. She prays there and a lot of solutions to problems are found in that war room carved out from her balcony.

To Obi, the balcony is his gossip mill; he lives on the fourth floor in a busy part of Enugu. When he is at his balcony he sees in minutes everything happening in his neighbourhood. He sees happy couples, young lovers stealing a kiss or two, teenagers trying their first cigarette, street preachers who go into the nearest shops to rush a chilled bottle of alcoholic content before they quickly return to duty.

He sees women who are really need to use the bathroom go behind a parked vehicle to empty their bladders. The women feel safe behind the stationary trucks but Obi sees it all and demonstrates in a funny way how the woman shake their bum up and down in a bid to shake off the extra urine.lol (Lack of good public toilet facility)

To Pa Ade and his wife, the balcony is where they sit and listen to the Voice of America on their radio and also take calls from their children. Speaking to their grandchildren last thing in the night is usually a guarantee that the night will be good for these Octogerians.

To Tony, the Balcony has a totally different meaning. This is where he safely speaks to his side chics, he has a very smart wife and he wouldn’t risk taking or making such calls anywhere in the house lest he gets bugged by wifey. Hahaha!

To me, the balcony is for checking the person at my gate and also why there is so much noise on the street. It is also a place for the dumbbells and a sit-up gadget. More recently it became my morning meditation spot.

The balcony -  a good place to be at when you hear “holam holam holam” (hold him hold him!) If your are on a higher floor” you get a bird’s eye view on the suspect that is being chased and then you start to shout orders, “check over there!” "under the bus" etc.
Of what use is your balcony? I am telling you now that your balcony only gives back to  you what you give it.
This is a campaign for the Balcony, it is a vital part of most homes and must be respected; it could be a couples' love zone, prayer spot or point of settlement.
I missed two dates of blogging *no thanks to technology. I am back now and my balcony remains was my sanity spot.
If the balcony could speak, I can imagine that Tony’s (Tony in this article) wife fainted after she heard half of the conversation Tony had over the phone in the balcony.
Watching the day break is a truly beautiful experience and I owe it all to my balcony for the opportunity to see this!

Please note that the names used here are fictious but events are true
