Sleep on Ruby

Ruby had battled with his health for quite some time. He stopped walking all of a sudden and the doctors confirmed that he had a problem with the spine; this came as a big blow to all of us who loved Ruby.
Who wouldn’t love Ruby? He had this childlike playfulness that made anyone around him just want to play like a child and forget one’s troubles plus he was a great companion to Kerus. Ruby found a home in the most unusual way, he went on a holiday to Kerus and Morgan’s home, by the time the holidays were over, Kerus and Morgan knew that they would be sad without Ruby. So Ruby was adopted and from then on and it was always one adventure or the other.
At such a young age Ruby was so sensitive, he knew when he was not wanted and it showed on his face and attitude, he would be too quiet and stay all by himself most of the time other than that, Ruby would be considered as always being too excited.

After the doctors verified that he had a spinal cord disease, Ruby was given a few more weeks to live and they also stated that he wouldn’t be able to walk till he passed on.  Ruby defied the doctors and walked again, it was quite emotional to watch as he struggled to walk in bandages. Ruby did not only walk, he ran and played as usual and it made his family very happy.

Ruby had the ability to brighten anyone’s day, he made one think only of the positive sides of life; his zest for life was easily infectious and would leave you wondering what would make a dog this happy.

I did a story on Ruby a while ago (link is below)

about how we almost lost him to poisoning which he survived as well. Ruby was considered a miracle dog for overcoming all the health challenges that came his way.

And just as we were getting used to the fact that Ruby was doing quite well and would live for  a very long time, we got the most shocking  news, “Ruby is dead”
This is a tribute to my sister’s dog, Ruby.
From Ruby we learnt to bear pain and fight
From Ruby we learnt to laugh and to play
From him we learnt the power of friendship and loyalty

Sleep on Ruby, we miss you but we know that you are already running around in Dog heaven cheering the other dogs  on. I seriously wonder if there will be animals in our heaven, (well we shall see things for ourselves when we get there).
I always said good bye to you on my way out after each visit without really knowing the meaning, this right here is another kind of good bye and so I will just say;
Good bye for now Ruby, We loved you then and we love you still
Ruby and I
