FEAR - False Evidence Appearing Real. Whoever coined these words did very well.
As a child I was afraid of everything, the dark, injection, bridges, rats, cockroaches, wall geckos, lizards, snakes, masquerades and several other things.
I was even scared of a shoe that had come off it's sole and my mean siblings usually used it to scare me. They would open it and tell me it would swallow me and that made me scream out in fear. See, I was abused as a child. Teeheehee!
As an adult I still have certain fears especially of rats, roaches, geckos and lizards. I'm still afraid of the night and hate to sleep all by myself but I take charge as an adult when I'm alone with the children and insist on sleeping alone.
What they do not know is that when they shut my door, I cling to my pillow and hold on to my rosary to chase away ghosts.
What they do not know is that I hear all sorts of noises like an imaginary knock on the door.
They think I'm asleep but I'm actually awake counting sheep and lambs.
I got home last night and my little sister helped me get some things off the vehicle.
As I got down I saw her running and immediately took off behind her. I hit my big toe on the gate when I got to the entrance and that was when I stopped to ask what she was running from.
I was panting and the silly girl looked at me like I was crazy. "I wasn't running" she said. "For real? Then what were you doing?"
She was only trying to catch up with my son who had my handbag so she could put my makeup purse inside the bag.
She laughed hysterically when she realized that I actually ran after her.
I took off because I thought she saw one of those Lagos giant rats that almost carry out a stop and search in Lagos compounds.
I limped up to my bedroom all because of a false evidence that appeared real.
2018 my year of letting go of all my fears and you should let go of all yours too.
Have a fear free Wednesday people!

ReplyDeleteI believe Fear is something inbuilt in every human being. So,one must always be ready to face fears every hour in life time. Soldiers fear book haram. Nurses fear night shifts. Doctors fear lack of patients in their hospitals. Police fear Army. Teachers fear bad government. What do you fear? Hahahahah... Nice article.

ReplyDeleteHehehehehehehe.... You created everything and made it real. The mind is powerful.... Adults are frightened too.... Thanks for the piece.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been easy if my fears were of rats and roaches. Take a poll our real fears are failure, fear of losing jobs, ill health and death.
