Fifty Shades Finer

A few days ago Omo experienced the weirdest thing ever. She took a decision that left her in total disbelief. 

She had been speaking to Obiora for a whole year. They met through a mutual friend and although they lived in two different continents, they gave love a chance. 

The long distance was no barrier as both parties tried their best to make it work. They spoke almost on a daily basis and also had some sessions of video calls. It will be said that they both had a healthy relationship. 

Obiora proposed towards the end of the year and got his family to perform all the customary rites of marriage in preparation for the traditional wedding. 

Omo received her husband to be at the airport upon his arrival.  He arrived in the company his big brother Noel who looked fifty shades finer than Obiora. 

Omo tried her best to cover her nervousness at meeting Obiora face to face for the first time a week to her wedding. 

It was in the restaurant where the trio went to have dinner later that night that she got the eye popping news. 

Noel was going to be her husband not Obiora.  Obiora had dated her via the phone and social media for his older brother Noel. She felt violated. 

That made him avoid any physical contact with her.  He could have travelled all the way at least once to see and be with her.  He could afford it but chose not to; she would be his brother's wife after all. 

It was too much for Omo to take in and she just broke down in tears. She wept like a baby at the uncertainty that suddenly befell her. 

It was then that Noel said a word,  he called her name and moved over to where she sat. He held on to her tightly and promised to make her happy if she accepted him. 

It was a joke at first, Noel had stopped believing in women after a couple of bad relationships.  He accidentally saw Omo's picture and liked her. He hadn't shown any interest in women in a long time and so it pleased his brother. 

He knew that Noel wouldn't go on with the wooing and he promised to follow through which brought them to that point in the restaurant.

As she gave him the traditional wine to indicate that he was her husband, Omo broke down in tears again.  She was getting married to a complete stranger and all she had to fall back on was a mere promise to keep her happy. 

She knew this secret would forever remain in her heart and she prayed that neither Obiora nor Noel should reveal it to anyone. 

Her plan B is to leave the marriage fast if the need arises. 

By the way,  Noel is good looking in every sense of it and highly successful in his chosen career.  Taking the decision to get on with the marriage shouldn't have been such a big problem for Only.   

That's my opinion though but truly if such a thing had happened to me I would have grabbed the opportunity with my two hands and two legs.  I love to unravel mysteries.
