Saturday nights mean different
things to different people, to some it is the best time to party; hang out all
night and get drowned in alcohol. It reminds me of some years back when hubby
and I would go to some club that played only oldies on Saturday nights, we
would dance till 3am then travel all the way home, it was quite some distance
but we enjoyed doing that.
The funny part was the way hubby looked at me
like I was a witch because I would wake up at 6am later that morning to start getting
ready for Mass at 9am. The children had to be sorted out so we could all be
seated in Church before the procession began.
Hubby would always whisper
different things that would crack me up in between Mass, once he said, “See how
Holy you are acting, the priest will not believe it if he saw a video of you
shaking your backside earlier this morning”. In defence I would say, “at least
it was for you”. Another time he said, “Baby, you should
learn to leave me to sleep I’m about to fall down, you know that I am no longer
young” I just burst out laughing. One thing we often argued about was who was in a
state of grace enough to receive the Holy Communion.
These days, Saturday nights are
movie nights when we do not attend important events that last till late in the
evening, it is also a time to prepare for the Holy day the following day especially
for an active Christian like me *wink wink* who participates at Mass. (Holy Me. hehehe!)
A good Christian should do some
soul searching on Saturday nights, read the good book and get into the Sunday
mode when you go to His Holy House and praise Him in the presence of His
people.
The younger generation and some
mature people still get their grooves on Saturday nights, dance the night away,
smoke away, get drunk, get home and sleep all through Sunday. (Not judging at
all, everything in good moderation) This category of people see Sunday as a day
of rest literally and so they rest from all the alcohol and all the partying
and they forget to go and pay homage to the One who holds our lives in His
hands. No one is perfect but the Bible admonishes us to strive for Holiness.
Enough said, what pastor sister
Amaka is trying to say is, Go to Church People!
Ok ooooo
