I walk on high Heels

I am a woman, obviously, so what?

A lot! I walk on high heels and though it hurts I am not bothered.

I get a lot of “Nos” No you can’t lift that it’s too heavy, you can’t go there it’s too dangerous, you can’t run for that office, it’s not for a woman, you cannot wear that, it’s too revealing, you can’t do this, you can’t do that.

I get raped and it’s my fault,  I seduced the man, I get into a fight and I am uncultured; though I was provoked, it’s still my fault because ladies do not act that way.

I get to do all the cleaning, the washing and the cooking while dear brother sits, legs wide spread on the sofa and laughing at a movie scene. I am learning to be a woman is the answer when I ask why I have to be a servant in my own home.

I am trained to be a good wife, to care for my future husband and be a good mother to my children. But who trains to care for me?

I am thirty, unmarried and happy, that makes me a witch and it is my happiness in my situation that drives the men away. What situation? My thirty five year old brother is happily single.

I work and I get paid good money for the good work I do yet I go to work in a public transport. Only a loose woman buys a car when she is still in her father’s house. Living all by myself in another city means absolutely nothing.

I cannot build a house or do all the things I want to do because I am a woman but I can send the money home to the family to squander and that makes me a true daughter of the soil.

I get cheated on and I forgive as often as it happens, I really do not have a choice, do I? I find out my husband is cheating on me, he sends me home, he finds out I’m cheating on him, he sends me home too.

I am bruised and battered but I stay on; "outta" love for him and the children. The day I fight back I become an animal, uncultured and without manners.

I go through labour and in severe pains I birth my child, yet I long for him again whose waist dance put me in that situation in the first instance.

I go a second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and even a seventh time and there is absolutely no reason to go through such pain over and over again. Yet I do it and definitely not for me, my husband needs a male child to carry the family name, he needs a daughter to care for him in his old age. Woman, be selfish for once!

When I wear my long 3D lashes, the eye liner and eye shadow please be happy for me, I am just trying to cover the tiredness from too many sleepless nights.

The lipstick covers the hickeys and the bruises, the foundation is exactly what it is, reminds me of all the groundwork done to get me to the happy place I am in.

The blush keeps me smiling when I’d rather cry and the contour makes me stay focused.
The girdle holds the extra tummy and sometimes when I say no to good food, I am not being funny or rude; I am only trying to save myself from a possible explosion.

Weight loss is a big mystery to me but I will never give up looking for a solution. Alleluia diet and Keto will always give me nightmares; however, I applaud those who could go through with them.

Love to all who love and appreciate the woman; the faithful husband, a loving child, the kind boss, caring parents and a loyal friend.

If you hate me I forgive you, if you have ever hurt me, I forgive you too, if you wish I never existed, I truly forgive you but please forgive me too. I may not be perfect but in my imperfection several people are proud of me.

I am a cook, nurse, teacher, seamstress, counsellor and driver all wrapped in one.

I am a Wonderful Omalicha Magical Angelic Nonpareil creation of the Most High. I am a Daughter, a Sister and a Mother.

I am a WOMAN and proudly so!

Happy International Women’s Day to every woman and anyone who is born of a woman.

I agree with you, be who you are and anyone who loves you will accept you! Be ready to face opposition but it is easier if you have strong convictions! Above all, love unconditionally...
