Omalu's story is similar to Harry's but in this case it was a life he stumbled upon.
He was fed up of being referred to as 'odunwa Ken' (Ken's last child). He always had his eyes on the money because being the last born child of a business man, he followed his father to his shop in the market whenever he was on holiday and every other weekend.
From an early age he learnt the importance of money and also how to make the money. As soon as he could he asked to be given an opportunity to earn a living while he went to school.
This story reminds me of the biblical prodigal son. Omalu wanted to stay very far away from home so he decided to pick Lagos as a location in pursuit of his education.
His father mobilised him without much ado and encouraged him to be prudent and focused. He also reminded him that his main reason for leaving home was to acquire a degree and so should not fail to accomplish that.
In following his father's advice to be prudent, Omalu found a home in a one room apartment in a congested compound in the heart of Lagos Island.
In no time Omalu became the target of Ego, a petty trader who lived just above him with her family. They became friends after Omalu helped her teenage son with his school work.
In appreciation she made him a delicious pot of oha soup. Omalu was delighted for two reasons; it felt like his mother's cooking which he had missed and oha soup was his favourite kind of soup.
After that encounter Omalu and Ego became inseparable. Ego became a partner in his palm oil business and they would often travel together to make the purchase. When he was busy with school work Ego would make the business trip alone.
It appeared to be a good partnership till Omalu started to lose focus, after a while he stopped his business and joined Ego in her own trade of selling used clothes.
In a short time he started to look wretched; he would spend a whole day in Ego' s apartment while her husband was at work.
It eventually became clear to all in the compound that what existed between Omalu and Ego was more than a business relationship, he warmed her bed as well.
It was an ugly arrangement, Ego would sometimes ask her two children to sit outside their apartment while she settled bedroom scores with Omalu.
On a certain day while the confirmed lovebirds were digging it out in Ego' s apartment, her husband suddenly came back home. You would think that he would set the whole place ablaze but that didn't happen.
He waited patiently for his wife to open the door and when he eventually gained entrance into his own home neighbours heard him as he exchanged pleasantries with the young man.
Omalu became penniless and a young man who was previously very promising started to demand for financial support from home.
Sensing trouble, his mother sent his older brother and an uncle to find out what the matter was.
They were shocked to discover that Omalu was having a dangerous affair with a married woman. He no longer went to school and his palm oil business had ceased to exist.
They bundled Omalu home immediately but not without confronting Ego. She was asked to severe any ties with thier brother or have them deal with her.
Throughout the confrontation, Ego's husband in whose presence the confrontation took place uttered no word.
Rumour has it that Ego went all diabolical and so charmed Omalu to love her and do her will. She also charmed her husband to overlook any bad behaviour.
I don't understand this new trend of women turning their husbands or other men into fools. This has become so rampart and worrisome. What's more disturbing is that married women are getting themselves involved in this evil.
The young man in question was rehabilitated by his family and he's doing quite well now.
A supportive family is very important. I pray Ego finds God and repents of the wrongs she did in the past. So we can all move on.

Ego is a Devi incarnate. She ended up in deceiving the innocent vulnerable boy almost destroyed him. Thank God for his goodness and mercy
ReplyDeleteWhat a family! I encourage evertone to have a close tie with their family, its very important. Am so happy with the way it ended. As for Ego, mmmmmm, i pray she meets God o, because she is destroying lives, so many lives, her husband, her chukdren and others.
ReplyDeleteThat ofe oha!?!?!Very dangerous!!
ReplyDeleteYes, beware men. Don't accept food from any woman as appreciation for a good deed. In fact, thank you is enough accept nothing or risk becoming her sex toy.
ReplyDeleteI know a woman whose husband never utters a word knowing very well his wife was jumping from man to man. Some even come to her shop at night. If you can't stay with one man why get married.
