The recent rumour about the sudden wealth of the young actress Regina Daniels reminds me of a certain girl from way back. Ugoulo
was some sort of a redeemer to her family.
She was the middle child in a family of seven children, Ugoulo stood out from her siblings. She was extremely beautiful and looked nothing like the rest of her family.
She was the most exposed, smartest, outspoken and brilliant of them all and even though she had three older siblings Ugoulo took it upon herself to care for her family when their father passed.
After the death of their breadwinner, Ugoulo's family went through tough times. Things were so bad that her older siblings had to drop out of school.
Their mother did her best to sustain her family but her petty trade business could not do much for her large family.
In addition to her small business, Ugoulo's mother opened a minor road side restaurant which was Ugoulo's idea.
They needed only a few coolers, a big umbrella, two benches, a table, plates and cutlery to swing into action.
The restaurant was opened daily in the evenings when the trade business closed for the day. After the first month, Ugoulo's mother was glad she listened to her little daughter.
By the fourth month, they no longer had any need for their petty trade business and so faced their restaurant business squarely.
In a short time, they rented a bigger space for full restaurant activities.
Ugoulo made her brothers who had become apprentices go back to school, next was ensuring that her family moved back into a three bedroom flat.
She delayed her admission into the university so she could help her mother some more. By the end of that particular year, Ugoulo helped her mother buy a van for the family.
Tongues started to wag for everyone knew that there was more to the sudden success; it couldn't just be the restaurant business.
To Ugoulo's family, their daughter and sister was living up to her name; Ugoulo-the crown of the home. She did everything right and all that she touched turned to gold.
While people still gossiped, Ugoulo travelled to the United Kingdom with her two older brothers, afterwards she came back without them. That same year, she spent Christmas in London with her mother and younger sister.
Her family was suddenly the most talked about and sought after family and when It looked like there was nothing new coming from them, another rumour sprung up that Ugoulo had bought the only empty land on their street. She wasn't even twenty five years old then.
Just as the saying goes that nothing is hidden forever, the mystery was unraveled. Two strange women came with about five policemen to the restaurant and a big fight ensued between them and Ugoulo's family.
They deployed their own policemen and it became a battle of who knows more policemen. The two women were the wives of Ola, an unassuming middle aged man who often visited the restaurant.
He had two wives who lived in affluence in different parts of town while he lived alone in his mansion. He looked a lot younger than his age and was very private. He easily avoided being identified as Ugoulo's power house.
After that fight, the big secret was out there and there was no longer anything to hide. In a short while the new building which served as both residential and restaurant was completed.
Olu was there at the opening; he made it clear that he had come to stay no matter what anyone said or did. He put the first two wives in their rightful places and married Ugoulo who lives with him in the mansion till date.
My question is, must a man be behind every woman's success? Can't we be successful all by ourselves.
There is no difference between Regina and Ugoulo. Wealth can never be hidden and so for those who may have started shaming Regina for being so loud please do not blame her. It's not easy to sit and money and be calm.
Money is a spirit that possesses those who have it. The young lady was possessed by money whether it is from the said chief Nwoko or not. Many women may even do worse in her shoes.
From the Beginning of time, this has always been a norm.
ReplyDeleteAmaks,it is not all the time that women succeed by a man's support. There are times that women succeed without men. The main point is God wants both to work together without deceits and that was why He formed Eve with a rib He took from Adam. Gen. 1: 25; Adam and Eve were naked and they were not ashamed. Coming to the issue of the two women, it is rather unfortunate that the man got loosen to the hands of Uguolo but then it is for a purpose to lift Uguolo's family. All is well.
