INDECENT PROPOSALS PART 1

Dear Blogger-at-large,

I wish to share some intimate secrets that may destroy my happiness when caged. I tarried to let it go because I relentlessly sort a befitting platform to let the cat out of the bag! Yes! Lileasblog sure gave me lease of hope!

As an undergraduate at one of the Ivory Towers in Enugu capital city, I learnt quite a lot from adventures and of course,'misadventures'.

Frankly, being a student of Estate Management had it's good sides as well as it's bad and ugly sides at this particular state-owned citadel of higher learning.

First, it was a rare assemblage of unique and funny personalities. Almost everyone had a reputation to nurture, image to protect, style to harness and even a unique story to tell.

Secondly, like a 'star-studded' community, the 'noble' class had well over half of its population drive in exotic cars and dress in the finest ensembles!

Interestingly, the Estate Management class stood out in it's true essence, flamboyance, opulence, brilliance and finesse.

Consequently,it made interaction within the University community somewhat 'parochial' as guys were intimidated by dating 'estate girls' and this resulted in 'internal runs'.

Ultimately, guys dated girls in my class and by thirdd year, some of us (who probably couldn't find our matches) were visibly noticed. However, I had a crush, Nneoma (not real name)

Nneoma, was a damsel by all standards, a silverspoon bred, a mullato (blonde) with dreamy eyes, highly sophisticated and civilised. She was an unrepentant fashionista who oozed of uncommon style and was the most sought after 'belle of the ball'.

Getting to woo Nneoma's kind in school was like searching for a needle in a haystack! We stole glances, winks and talked to each other once in a while until a month before our six-month industrial training (I.T).

That morning, while we reviewed a term paper together ( I naturally assumed the role of a 'powerhouse' just to win her attention), our eyes met in unusual glances but this time, our shyness disappeared. I felt our eyes locked, her's probing all around mine as if investigating my genuineness and before we realized we were just by the Architecture studio, our lips locked in a kiss.

Most interestingly, we sealed what was to make us one of the best celebrated couples on campus, in a very romantic manner.  January 6th was her birthday and I bought her a very unique gift (I'll keep this to myself) for her and we spent time at the park which sparked off a blissful journey!

Nneoma and I soon became the cynosure of all eyes on campus. We were an item everywhere we went and a mere boy-girl friendship almost turned to a marital relationship!

We were lovebirds that everyone envied until I started battling intruders, rivals, toasters, admirers and ex-lovers; it became an 'unusual warfare' because, rather than having to deal with fellow men alone, I had girls and women on the 'assault list'

......to be continued........
